Amazon & Google Unveil Breakthrough Multicloud Network to Deliver Lightning-Fast Connectivity

In a landmark move that could reshape the future of cloud computing, Amazon and Google have jointly launched a powerful new multicloud networking service designed to give businesses faster, more reliable connectivity across cloud platforms—an innovation unveiled at a time when even seconds of downtime can trigger massive global outages.

According to a joint statement from both companies, the collaboration enables customers to establish private, high-speed links between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud within minutes instead of weeks, drastically accelerating the traditionally slow and complex process of connecting multiple cloud environments.

The announcement follows closely on the heels of the October 20 AWS outage, which knocked thousands of websites offline—disrupting major platforms like Snapchat and Reddit—and is estimated to have cost U.S. businesses up to $650 million in losses. The new multicloud solution aims to prevent such large-scale disruptions by allowing seamless data movement and resilient cross-platform operations.

The service merges AWS Interconnect – Multicloud with Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect, providing a new level of interoperability between the world’s leading cloud providers.

“This collaboration between AWS and Google Cloud represents a fundamental shift in multicloud connectivity,” said Robert Kennedy, AWS vice president of network services.
Rob Enns, Google Cloud’s vice president and general manager of cloud networking, added that the joint network is designed to make moving applications and data between clouds significantly easier and faster.

Industry giant Salesforce is among the first major enterprises to embrace the new system, Google Cloud noted.

AWS remains the world’s largest cloud provider, ahead of Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, offering computing power, storage, and a suite of digital services to governments, companies, and individuals. As artificial intelligence accelerates global demand for computing capacity, tech giants including Amazon, Google’s Alphabet, and Microsoft are investing billions to upgrade infrastructure capable of handling the surge in internet traffic.

Amazon’s cloud business alone generated $33 billion in revenue during the third quarter—more than double Google Cloud’s $15.16 billion—underscoring AWS’s dominant position as multicloud adoption rapidly expands.
