Speaking at the forum, Mr. Dawood highlighted the deep-rooted and enduring partnership between Pakistan and China, describing it as a model of trust, continuity, and shared economic vision. He recalled his participation in the 2013 delegation led by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, which laid the foundation for what would become the transformative China–Pakistan Economic Corridor initiative.

A Decade of Transformation Through the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor

The China–Pakistan Economic Corridor has since emerged as one of the most significant bilateral development frameworks in the region, mobilizing approximately $62 billion in investments across energy, infrastructure, and industrial connectivity. These projects have strengthened trade routes linking Kashgar in western China to Pakistan’s deep-sea port of Gwadar, enhancing regional connectivity and economic resilience.

Mr. Dawood emphasized that the success of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor lies in long-term planning, institutional trust, and a shared commitment to inclusive growth. He noted that Engro has played an active role in several CPEC-linked initiatives, particularly in collaboration with leading Chinese partners such as China Machinery Engineering Corporation.
