Flight Operations Temporarily Suspended again at Karachi Airport Amid Pakistan-India Tensions
KARACHI –Karachi Airport flight suspension remained in effect on Thursday as authorities continued precautionary measures amid rising Pakistan India tensions. The decision comes at a time when Pakistan airspace closure in several regions earlier in the day caused temporary disruptions over Lahore and Sialkot, according to aviation officials.
Punjab’s airspace also saw disruptions earlier in the da as several routes over Lahore and Sialkot were closed for a short time due to operational concerns. According to airport officials seven flight routes in the Lahore FIR were affected, and Sialkot Airport even stopped landings and take-offs for a brief period.
However, authorities have confirmed that flight operations at both Lahore and Sialkot airports were restored shortly after the temporary closure, with only a few flights affected due to the necessary operational adjustments.
At Karachi Airport, the suspension of flight operations remains in place at the time of reporting. Aviation authorities have not provided a timeline for resumption but stated that the decision was made in line with ongoing security assessments.

The disruptions follow a night of heightened hostilities between the two countries, when India launched what Pakistan described as a “cowardly airstrike” late Tuesday into early Wednesday. In response, Pakistan temporarily shut down its airspace for 48 hours, significantly impacting flight schedules and air traffic management.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and further updates are expected based on regional developments and security evaluations.
