Seismological Details of the Earthquake
According to the Seismological Centre, the Karachi and Balochistan earthquake occurred at 12:51 am. The earthquake measured 5.2 in magnitude and had a shallow depth of 12 kilometers. Its epicenter was located near Somiani, approximately 87 kilometers from Karachi, an area considered seismically sensitive due to its proximity to the coast.

Emergency Response in Lyari
Following the Karachi and Balochistan earthquake, residents of a building in Lyari’s Naya Abad area rushed outside in panic. Police and rescue teams reached the site immediately. Rescue officials confirmed that no structural damage was detected, though inspections are ongoing as a precautionary measure.
Tremors Reported in Coastal Balochistan
The Karachi and Balochistan earthquake was also felt in parts of Balochistan, including Winder, Hub, Gadani, and Somiani. People in these areas reported sudden tremors but no injuries or property damage were reported.
Earlier Earthquake Near Sibi
A few hours before the Karachi and Balochistan earthquake, a smaller earthquake was recorded in Sibi and surrounding areas. The earlier quake measured 3.2 in magnitude, with its epicenter located about 53 kilometers southwest of Sibi, indicating continued seismic activity in the region.
No Casualties or Damage Reported
Authorities confirmed that despite the intensity of the Karachi and Balochistan earthquake, no casualties or significant financial losses have been reported so far. Monitoring remains ongoing, and residents have been advised to remain calm and follow safety guidelines
