Karachi Encroachment Operation: Strong Enforcement Removes Illegal Roadside Setups

KARACHI : Karachi administration has once again vowed to remove roadside encroachments of all kinds in the megacity as the Karachi Encroachment Operation gains momentum. Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi warned that shops running as illegal encroachments will be sealed and cases will be registered against those running such practices.

Strict Instructions to Deputy Commissioners

He directed all the Deputy Commissioners to take concrete steps to remove encroachments along roadsides and footpaths. He emphasized that the campaign to eradicate the encroachment culture in the city must continue without interruption.

Effective Practices in Central District

Similarly, according to Deputy Commissioner Central District Taha Saleem, Haideri Market witnessed remarkable improvements. Nine shops running on the footpath were sealed. There were operations in Nazimabad No. 1 for the removal of unauthorized roadside structures.

New Karachi Sees Action Against Obstructions as the Encroachment Operation clears illegal setups.

Following the complaints lodged on the Commissioner Karachi portal by the residents, Assistant Commissioner, Sector 11-E, New Karachi, got the encroachments by motor mechanics and motorcycle shops removed to restore ease of movement and reduce inconvenience to the local citizens.

South District Operations and FIRs

In the South District, Assistant Commissioner Saddar, Rana Sufyan, issued FIRs against five persons in light of encroachment removal operations carried out from Bohri Bazaar, Dr. Daudpota Road, Mansfield Street, and its surroundings. Traffic police and town staff were deployed to keep vigil on busy roads to stop further encroachments.

Operations were also carried out in Kharadar, Aram Bagh Sub-Division, where illegal structures were removed to ensure public safety and free movement.

East District Operations on Shahra-e-Faisal

The Deputy Commissioner East, Abrar Jaffer, reported actions against the Shahra-e-Faisal encroachments. In this regard, the illegal shops, tea houses, cabins, and chairs placed on the roads and footpaths were seized. Traffic police and town administration staff also gave important support. The action faced some resistance as shopkeepers tried to obstruct the operation. The anti-encroachment teams acted responsibly despite challenges and completed the mission successfully.
