Karachi Industrial Funding Gets Major Boost as Sindh Govt Approves Rs9.28bn Package

Share This Article:

The industrial community has warmly welcomed the Sindh government’s approval of Karachi industrial funding, terming it a historic and industry-friendly decision that could revive business confidence across the city. Industrialists believe the long-awaited Karachi industrial funding will address critical infrastructure gaps that have constrained production, exports, and new investment for years.

Karachi Industrial Funding Seen as Confidence-Building Measure

Patron-in-Chief of the SITE Association of Industry, Zubair Motiwala, described the Karachi industrial funding package of Rs9.28 billion as a timely intervention that signals strong government commitment to industrial revival. He said improved roads, drainage, water supply, and utilities would significantly lower production costs and help industries operate more efficiently, ultimately strengthening Pakistan’s export base.

He further stressed that transparent utilisation of Karachi industrial funding and the creation of an effective oversight mechanism would deepen trust between the government and industrial stakeholders, ensuring that resources are spent where they are most needed.

Infrastructure Revival Linked to Jobs and Exports

Chief Coordinator of the SITE Association, Saleem Parekh, termed the Karachi industrial funding a landmark decision, noting that industrial rehabilitation is directly linked to employment generation and export growth. He appreciated the role of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Provincial Industries Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah for prioritising industrial infrastructure after years of neglect.

Parekh also highlighted Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab’s efforts in advancing the TP-1 and TP-3 water projects, saying that by the end of December, the SITE area is expected to receive one million gallons of water per day. He said this step, supported by Karachi industrial funding, would ease water shortages and improve operational continuity for factories.

SITE and Korangi Areas to Receive Targeted Relief

Ahmed Azeem Alvi, President of the SITE Association, welcomed the allocation of Rs2 billion specifically for the SITE area, calling it a practical move that would deliver immediate relief to industrialists. He said the consultative process involving the Mayor of Karachi and the Commissioner Karachi in fund distribution reflects a needs-based approach that will maximise the impact of Karachi industrial funding.

Similarly, President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Muhammad Ikram Rajput, praised the allocation of Rs2 billion for the Korangi Industrial Zone under the broader Karachi industrial funding package. He said the decision fulfils a long-standing demand of the industrial community and reinforces the Sindh government’s pro-industry vision.

Turning Point for Karachi’s Economy

Industrial leaders agreed that Karachi industrial funding could mark a turning point for the city’s economy if implemented effectively. They noted that previous funding initiatives had delivered results, but prolonged neglect and rising industrial pressure had once again weakened infrastructure. The new Karachi industrial funding is expected to accelerate development work, revive stalled industrial activity, boost exports, and restore investor confidence across Pakistan’s largest industrial hub.
