NAB Recovers Land in Sindh, Launches Task Force
The NAB recovers land initiative achieved a major success. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reclaimed government land valued at Rs1.5 trillion. NAB Director General Karachi, Shakeel Ahmed Durrani, confirmed the recovery and announced a special task force to resolve land disputes across Sindh.
The move responds to the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), which urged public auctions for government land to improve transparency and fairness.
Task Force to Resolve Land Issues
The NAB task force will soon start operations. It will work closely with the Sindh government and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Its main goals include tackling long-standing land disputes, reducing corruption, and recovering government property.
Officials also revealed a long-term plan to recover government land worth Rs10 trillion in Sindh. The recovered areas could be developed into parks and public spaces, benefiting local communities.
Digital Land Management Enhances Transparency
NAB introduced an online property system for the first time in Pakistan. DG NAB Rawalpindi, Waqar Ahmed Chauhan, said the system contains layout plans of 1,026 housing societies nationwide.
The platform allows public access to verified property records and continuously updates approved layouts. Digital management supports the NAB recovers land campaign by reducing disputes. Experts estimate that digitalization can solve 80% of land-related problems and limit repeated court appearances.

Collaboration with ABAD Boosts Investor Confidence
ABAD Chairman Muhammad Hassan Bakhshi praised NAB’s efforts. He said Karachi’s growth depends on a transparent land recovery system. Five recovered plots, including park lands, will see joint development between NAB and ABAD.
The task force will clear land titles and prevent future legal cases against builders. This step strengthens investor confidence in Karachi’s real estate market.
A joint committee between NAB and the business community will resolve pending disputes out of court, speeding up resolution of long-standing cases.
Reducing Corruption and Promoting Fairness
Officials emphasized that discretionary land powers often lead to corruption. The NAB recovers initiative limits misuse by enforcing public auctions and digital land records. These measures protect ownership rights and ensure accountability.
Former ABAD Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani highlighted the need for digitalization in government institutions. He noted that once digital systems are fully implemented, most land disputes will resolve faster, providing security for property owners.
Future Outlook
The NAB recovers land program marks a step toward transparency and investor-friendly policies. NAB, the Sindh government, and ABAD will streamline land recovery, develop public projects, and improve confidence in Karachi’s property sector.
With digital land management, public auctions, and collaborative dispute resolution, Sindh’s real estate sector will become more efficient, accountable, and attractive to investors. Corruption will decrease, and citizens will have fairer access to government land.
