Pakistan Navy Live Surface to Air Missile Firing in Arabian Sea

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy missile firing exercise was conducted in the Northern Arabian Sea on Thursday, as the naval force carried out a live surface-to-air missile test to assess its rapid air defence response in a maritime environment.

According to naval authorities, the Pakistan Navy missile firing involved the successful launch of the FM-90N ER surface-to-air missile, which accurately intercepted high-speed aerial targets during the drill. The launch was carried out from a naval platform as part of routine operational readiness exercises aimed at validating combat procedures.

Witnesses to this event reported that the Pakistan Navy missile firing engagement took only a matter of seconds, which can be attributed to the increasing focus of the naval force on fast response air defense capabilities. The successful intercept was noted to show readiness to respond to any aerial challenge.

Rear Admiral Abdul Muneeb, the Commander Pakistan Fleet, observed this exercise and later mingle with officer and sailors participating in firing practices. He expressed satisfaction with regards to the level of operational readiness demonstrated during this firing practice.

Speaking to naval personnel, a repeat of directions by the fleet commander reiterated Pakistan’s navy commitment to securing maritime frontiers and defending Pakistan’s maritime interests. An important part of this defense strategy for naval operations and a way to counter emerging security threats is through constant naval training.
