Punjab One-Dish Crackdown Intensifies as Maryam Nawaz Orders Strict Wedding Event Controls
LAHORE: The Punjab one-dish crackdown has entered a stricter phase as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved stronger enforcement measures against wedding event violations and loudspeaker misuse across the province. Officials said the Punjab one-dish crackdown will now apply to marriage halls, private venues and farmhouse events without exception.
Wedding Restrictions Expanded Across Punjab
During a high-level meeting in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure that the Punjab one-dish crackdown is fully implemented. She stressed that no event should be allowed to serve multiple dishes and strict inspection teams would be formed to monitor compliance.
Loudspeaker Misuse Now Under Surveillance
The Chief Minister also ordered strict action against unnecessary loud music during wedding functions. Under the Punjab one-dish crackdown, the government has also included loudspeaker misuse as part of public nuisance violations and instructed authorities to monitor farmhouses and open-air venues where large gatherings usually take place.

Farmhouses and Open Venues Under Control
Authorities were clearly instructed that the Punjab one-dish crackdown must also cover large farmhouses, private marquees and grounds where rules are often violated. Officials stated that event organisers will be fined and repeated violations may lead to sealing of venues.
Event Timings to be Monitored
Alongside the Punjab one-dish crackdown, the government has directed monitoring of official timings for marriage halls. The Punjab government believes that enforcing timing restrictions will reduce noise disturbance, traffic congestion and unnecessary late-night gatherings in residential areas.
Why the Crackdown Was Intensified
Government sources indicate that complaints about late-night weddings, fireworks and loud sound systems have increased significantly in urban areas. The Punjab one-dish crackdown is part of a wider administrative drive aimed at controlling extravagant wedding practices and maintaining public discipline in Punjab.
