The Punjab government has announced that all Model Sahulat Bazaars, Sahulat on the Go outlets, and regular Sahulat Bazaars will function as Ramazan Bazaars in Punjab during the upcoming holy month. The move is aimed at ensuring easy access to affordable food items and reducing pressure on open markets at a time when household spending usually increases. Officials said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to providing direct relief to citizens through an expanded network of Ramazan Bazaars in Punjab.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting on Ramazan preparedness chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Salma Butt. The meeting was attended by Secretary Food Safety and Consumer Protection Dr Kiran Khurshid, Deputy Secretary Khalid Naeem, Director General PEMRA Tariq Ali Basra, and other senior officials responsible for supply chains, monitoring, and public communication. Authorities discussed coordination between departments to ensure that Ramazan Bazaars in Punjab remain fully stocked and properly supervised.
Officials said that special arrangements will be made to ensure consistent availability of essential items such as flour, sugar, cooking oil, pulses, vegetables, dates, and fruits at controlled rates. Mobile outlets under Sahulat on the Go will also operate in high-demand areas to serve neighborhoods where permanent bazaars are not easily accessible. The goal is to bring Ramazan Bazaars in Punjab closer to residential areas so that families, especially low-income households, can shop without long travel or waiting times.

Officials said real-time reporting systems will be used to address complaints quickly and keep Ramazan Bazaars in Punjab running smoothly throughout the month.
