ISLAMABAD: Islamabad is all set to become the hub of youth cricket with the beginning of the long-awaited Talent Hunt National League 2025 by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme on December 4. The event features 10 male teams and 10 female teams from around the country to exhibit the emerging cricket talent of Pakistan in befitting style.
This national talent hunt for the players in the age group of 15-25 years was the result of an extensive selection process in which 100 provincial matches were played over a period of 25 days to enable selectors to assess several thousand aspirant cricketers on merit alone. It will create a structured and transparent path for the talented youth to move upwards from grassroots cricket to professional cricket.
These trials were held in every province, and the urban and rural athletes showed up in impressive numbers, reflecting the growing passion that the youth of Pakistan has for cricket. Male and female squads of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Federal areas, and Kashmir were finalized from these trials. Now, the best performers from every region will go onto the national stage.
The National Youth Tournament will consist of two teams per province, and all matches are scheduled at a modern, high-performance cricket facility in Islamabad. It has been specially prepared in view of hosting this event.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman PMYP, said the league was a major stride forward in meeting the Prime Minister’s vision to empower youth through fair and competitive opportunities. He said the program offers a clear and credible pathway, beginning from open trials to the national level of competition.
Terming the initiative as “a landmark moment for youth cricket in Pakistan,” Rana underlined that the league has brought together emerging stars from every nook and corner of the country onto one stage, which shows the depth of sporting talent that Pakistan possesses.
