Xiaomi appears ready to launch the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, with recent certifications indicating the device could arrive before the end of the year. Tipster Digital Chat Station has continued to reveal new information, particularly focusing on the phone’s upgraded camera setup.
Improved Main Sensor and LOFIC Technology
According to the latest reports, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will use a large main camera sensor with an f/1.6 aperture. The camera system will incorporate next-generation LOFIC technology, which is designed to handle light more efficiently and minimize glare. The effective aperture of the sensor is estimated to be around f/4.5, supporting better clarity and enhanced performance in low-light situations.
Upgraded Periscope Telephoto Lens
The key highlight is a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens that supports both medium- and long-range zoom. This lens is expected to have an effective aperture of about f/8.6 and will utilize Xiaomi’s exclusive full-lens optical system for advanced focus options. The design aims to offer greater versatility and improved image quality.

Design and Display
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to feature a large flat display and a prominent circular camera arrangement on the back, offering a refined design that builds on the look of its predecessor. This setup is intended to maintain the device’s premium appearance.
Rumored Specifications
Previous leaks suggest that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will include a 50-megapixel main camera with in-sensor zoom and seamless, lossless transitions across different focal lengths. It is also said to feature a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultra-wide camera, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 telephoto camera, and a 200-megapixel Samsung HPE periscope telephoto lens equipped with 4×4 RMSC technology. The front camera may use a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50M sensor.
Many features are likely to be shared with the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, such as the 6.9-inch OLED 2K 120Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and an enhanced vibration motor. The Ultra variant, however, will stand out for its circular camera design and exclusive imaging hardware. The phone is rumored to be available in gold, black, white, and purple.
