Islamabad — In a landmark move set to revolutionize Pakistan’s social protection landscape, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has officially launched its BISP Mobile Wallet Payment Model , signaling a transformative shift in financial inclusion. Supported by the German government and the European Union, this initiative aligns seamlessly with Pakistan’s broader ambition of building a cashless economy, placing a special emphasis on empowering low-income women across the country.
The BISP Mobile Wallet Payment Model introduces a secure, transparent, and dignified platform for disbursing financial assistance, aiming to eliminate barriers that have long hindered marginalized groups from accessing formal banking services. By leveraging mobile wallet technology, BISP ensures that beneficiaries—especially women—can receive their payments safely and efficiently, fostering a new era of financial autonomy and inclusion.
Driving the Vision of a Cashless Economy through BISP’s Mobile Wallet Payment Model
During the high-level workshop titled “Transition to Cashless Economy: BISP Mobile Wallet Payment Model,” key government officials, telecom leaders, financial regulators, and international development partners gathered to discuss the model’s strategic importance. Minister of State for Finance and Head of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit, Bilal Azhar Kayani, underscored the initiative as a national priority. He highlighted that the BISP Mobile Wallet Payment Model not only supports the Prime Minister’s vision for a cashless Pakistan but also enhances transparency, efficiency, and dignity in social welfare delivery.
The success of previous digital disbursement programs, such as the PM’s Ramzan Package via mobile wallets, serves as a strong testament to the BISP Mobile Wallet Payment Model’s potential to transform how government assistance reaches those in need.
